the day Jesus (and Shah Rukh Khan) lost His cool

"It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves (Mt. 21:13)."

The highlight of the year for Christians is Easter, the day when our Lord rose from the dead. Lent is a forty-day season of preparation for Easter. Lent always begins on a Wednesday, called Ash Wednesday.

Why 40 days? Because, Jesus fasted and was tempted in the wilderness for 40 days. Lent, then, is our time of fasting, prayer, temptation and repentance. Lent is not required anywhere in scriptures, but it has been a custom, which Christians have practiced for most of the last two thousand years.

In many languages, the word "Lent" actually means "fast." This is where the custom of giving up something for Lent originated. ....

Satyendra Dubey- Death Of A Whistleblower
By Sucheta Dalal
Suchetadalal.com

10 December, 2003

At midnight on Friday, there were 15,000 signatures to the petition-on-line demanding full inquiry and justice in the murder of IIT engineer Satyendra Dubey. By 11 am the next morning, another 1,100 people had added their names to the protest.

The petition —http://www.petitiononline.com/mod—perl/signed.cgi/sdubey) has been posted on dozens of web sites and forwarded by scores of Yahoo groups and blogs and the number of signatories has been growing at an amazing pace.

But the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), which is guilty of leaking Dubey’s name — first exposed by The Sunday Express — to the very crooked contractors that he had complained against seems unaware about the groundswell of public anger.

The fire and brimstone preachers focus on the so called sins of the flesh

but Jesus never preached a word on the subject

Billy Graham and the Evangelical preachers have twisted the Gospel of Jesus

The greatest sin is not loving one another and those who have a different love style

so in the cold wintry months we had to kill animals to make a fur coat

we had to kill animals for their skin

all this happened after EVE ate the apple

I see "A non mouse" beat me here to your comment section. =O)

Fasting or doing without anything for a set period of time is a very healthy mental exercise regarded in many different religions and non-religions across history and the world.

This year I gave up smoking pot for lent. I may pick the habit back up again after Easter, but for now I need to prove to myself that I'm not addicted and that my head isn't full of fuzzy notions and pipe dreams. For peace of mind.

Hehe, yeah - Jesus loosing His cool was so cool. I hope upon His Glorious return that Him and I can go and trash a few shopping malls together.

Thousands crossed the Potomac River from the Lincoln Memorial to rally loudly but peacefully near the Pentagon. "We're here in the shadow of the war machine," said anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan. "It's like being in the shadow of the death star. They take their death and destruction and they export it around the world. We need to shut it down."

Smaller protests were held in other U.S. cities, stretching to Tuesday's four-year anniversary of the Iraq invasion. In Los Angeles, Vietnam veteran Ed Ellis, 59, hoped the demonstrations would be the "tipping point" against a war that has killed more than 3,200 U.S. troops and engulfed Iraq in a deadly cycle of violence.

"It's all moving in our direction, it's happening," he predicted at the Hollywood rally. "The administration, their get-out-of-jail-free card, they don't get one anymore."

Other protests — and counter-demonstrations — were held in San Francisco, San Diego and Hartford, Conn., where more than 1,000 rallied at the Old State House.

Second Innings Bulletin: India Vs Sri Lanka
By Renin Wilben

Sri Lanka continued their impressive run in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 defeating India by 69 runs in their Group B encounter at Queens Park Oval, Port of Spain.

Munaf Patel was the last man to be dismissed by Tillakaratne Dilshan. Munaf tried to hit Dilshan out of the park on the leg side but did not connect properly. Chaminda Vaas took the catch to spark off the celebrations in the Lankan camp.

Zaheer Khan was the 9th Indian wicket to fall, swinging Muttiah Muralitharan straight into the hands of Lasith Malinga at long-on. India were 161/9 after 40 overs.

India skipper Rahul Dravid fell for a fighting 60 as the Indian innings deteriorated further. Dravid had to bat with a runner (Robin Uthappa) after cramping up. Soon after he decided to go on the attack hitting Lasith Malinga for four boundaries in an over, pouncing on deliveries outside off stump. But it was too good to last. His lofted drive ended up straight into the hands of Muralitharan at long-off.

Ajit Agarkar perished trying to hit Lasith Malinga out of the park as India inched closer to defeat. Agarkar struggled with the short stuff delivered by the Malinga and so tried to loft one when he was offered a fuller delivery. The result – a simple catch to Russel Arnold at mid-on

The Indian scorecard read a miserable 138/7 after 35 overs.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni fell first ball to Muralitharan, caught plumb in front of the wickets as India’s hopes of progressing to the Super 8s started fading. Dhoni failed to get a bat on a delivery that pitched and straightened and that was the end of the explosive Indian keeper. India were up against it at 121/6 after 30 overs. And though Dravid was still at the crease, this wall was a very difficult one to climb.

Before Dhoni another disaster struck India when a terrible mix-up ended Yuvraj Singh’s innings. Dravid nudged a ball to short fine leg and Yuvraj charged down the wicket for a single, only for the skipper to send him back. Yuvraj couldn’t regain his crease as Sanath Jayasuriya disturbed the stumps at the bowler’s end.

Muralitharan cut short a promising innings by Virender Sehwag as India found themselves in deep trouble at 105/4 after 25 overs.

Sehwag opened the face of his bat to a delivery pitched outside off stump by Murali and ended up guiding the ball to Mahela Jayawardene at slip. Sehwag made 48.

Sehwag and Rahul Dravid tried to consolidate the Indian innings after the loss of Sachin Tendulkar. The two took India’s score from 44/3 to 89/3 at the end of the 20th over. After his century against Bermuda, Sehwag seemed to have regained some confidence. He played some stand and deliver strokes which have been associate with him over the years. He hit Vaas for a huge over his head and even dispatched a doosra from Murali for a four. Sehwag could have been gone for 38 but a valiant diving effort from Kumar Sangakkara went in vain. Dilhara Fernando was the unlucky bowler.

At the other end, Dravid managed to hit a couple of boundaries of Fernando - a flick through mid-wicket and another one to square-leg but that apart, he was just busy rotating the strike.

Fernando dealt a major blow to India’s chances sending back Sachin Tendulkar for a duck. Tendulkar offered a front foot defense to an incoming Fernando delivery but the ball nipped back enough to beat him and crash into the stumps. Tendulkar’s dismissal left India wobbling at 44/3 in the 12th over.

India had already lost the in-form Sourav Ganguly to a brilliant catch by Muralitharan in the previous over. Ganguly was kept quiet for a while and tried to counter attack going down the pitch to Vaas. Unfortunately for India, he only ended up finding Murali at mid-on.

Virender Sehwag came into join Ganguly after Robin Uthappa’s dismissal and immediately got into boundary hitting mode.

Sehwag drove Vaas past cover and then banged one back over his head in the 9th over. Next over, he hit Fernando to third-man for another boundary as India made 42/1 in their first 10 overs.

Vaas sent back Uthappa brilliantly caught and bowled for 18 as India made a very slow start reaching 25/1 after 7 overs.

Uthappa got a reprieve when Muralitharan failed to get under a difficult chance offered by him off the bowling of Vaas. He made good use of that life immediately driving Vaas for a 4 through covers and them lofting him straight down the ground.

Except for those couple of boundaries, Vaas and Malinga maintained a good line and length and did not let India get away to a flying start.

Earlier, Sri Lanka made 254/6 in their allotted 50 overs.

CRAIG'S CALL
A reason to feel secure

No matter what, there are real friends whom you can always count on

FRIENDS FOREVER True friendship stands the test of time

Relationships are of many kinds. This time I'm going to write about a kind of relationship I've found to be the most important, but somehow the least written about — Friendship. It's the kind of relationship that can stand the test of time, provided you stand by it. And though all of us have friends, friendship is the one thing we take for granted.

Through thick and thin

So, this article is for friends. Not for those you speak to or those who amuse you, but those who stick by you through the toughest of times, simply because they believe in you. What I am today, my accomplishments, is thanks to my own efforts, of course, with the advice, guidance and care of my parents and well-wishers. My failures are mine too, because I didn't believe in the advice of those more experienced than me. Though I had friends, in fact, many of them, I never considered them an important part of my life, probably because I had better things to do. Life's changed now and my future is clear. And as I was thinking about the things I liked, I remembered the people who were with me during all those times I thought I could never make it anywhere, all those times I was dumped in a relationship and cried almost the entire night, all those times I wanted to go somewhere, all those times I needed a hug and an ego boost because I looked nice or did something praiseworthy. I thought of my friends. Sure there were those people who posed as friends just because they needed something in time. But this is for all my real friends. You are the reason that I feel secure, because no matter what happens, I know you'll always have my back. You are my strength and my joy.

So, remember your friends and treat them well. Because such relationships evolve when they stand the test of time and you'll realise that one day your friends won't be your friends anymore... they'd have evolved into family

10 things you didn't know about sex

1. The typical lovemaking session lasts around 15 minutes: roughly 10 to 12 minutes of foreplay and around 3 to 5 minutes of intercourse.

2. Humans aren't the only horny members of the animal kingdom doing it just for fun. Dolphins and a type of chimpanzee called the bonobo have also been observed engaging in sexual activity when they are not in their natural reproductive cycles.

3. While Viagra has made erectile dysfunction (affecting 10 to 12 percent of men) a household phrase, the opposite problem -- premature ejaculation -- is more common (affecting 24 to 27 percent of men). The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is currently reviewing a drug called dapoxetine as a cure for this problem.

4. Crank up that thermostat... orgasms may be more intense in warmer conditions. The degree of vasocongestion, reddening or darkeing of the skin known as the "sex flush," is both more common in warmer temperatures and an indication of how intense an orgasm may be.

5. If a woman experiences orgasm during sex, she is more likely to become pregnant, since orgasmic spasms in pelvic muscles help move sperm up the vaginal canal to the uterus.

6. Homosexuality is not unique to humans. Many species have been observed engaging in homosexual activity, and in fact male bats have the highest rate of homosexuality of all mammals.

7. On any given day 400,000,000 people around the world -- 1 in 17 of us -- will have sexual intercourse. Broken down further, 4,000 people are having sex at any given time.

8. Sex cures headaches. Endorphins released into our bloodstream when we have sex not only give us pleasure but also act as painkillers. Useful information to whip out the next time your partner uses a headache as a reason to say no.

9. Many elderly can and do have frequent sex. At age 70, 73% of males are still potent, and 30% of women 80 or older have still have sex.

10. 70% of women would rather eat choclate than have sex.
