Christ came to fulfil the Law.
While the NT is for Christians, its very important to read the OT, mainly because it helps us in understanding(a bit atleast ) the Personality of our God, how he dealt with our Patriarchs, sin etc. I would suggest new believers would first start with the NT and gradually shift to the OT.
