If possible, use scissors supervised. It is quite possible to cut your finger open severely, thus leaving you unable to dial a telephone. An observer from a safe distance will then be able to contact your local hospital in case of such emergency. Maintaining a safe distance will safeguard helpers from flying paper shrapnel and/or flying scissor blades. Although small paper cuts hurt, be careful around the edges of your sheet of paper.
